Little More About Me.
A Writer & WordPress Developer With 5 Years of Experience Crafting Words and Websites That Inspire.
I, Umair Sher, was born in Haji Abad, Timergara, in the valleys of Dir Lower, a rural part of Pakistan where life is tied to simplicity—where people rise with the sun, live close to the soil, and dream only within the boundaries of what they see around them. Yet even as a child, my heart and mind longed for something larger. I wanted to understand the world beyond my village, to explore questions that touched not only my life, but the lives of all humanity.
While pursuing my Civil Engineering degree, I discovered something unusual about myself: I could not limit my curiosity to formulas, bridges, and buildings alone. For a little time of my life, I used to pick up the newspaper—not just to know the news, but to learn new vocabulary, sharpen my thinking, and absorb ideas. Those pages became my second classroom, teaching me about politics, society, economics, and the environment.
Over time, I realized something profound: every human being should strive to develop T-shaped expertise. By this, I mean becoming deeply skilled in one’s chosen field, while also branching out into other disciplines and global issues. Specialization gives us strength, but broad awareness gives us wisdom. This combination not only makes us better professionals, but also more complete human beings.
The Pandemic and the Birth of Writing
The Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020 changed the course of my life forever. Like millions of students, I returned home from university, carrying with me uncertainty about the future. But instead of letting isolation silence me, I let it awaken me.
During those long days, I began to think more deeply than ever before. Thoughts crowded my mind—about society, about the destiny of nations, about humanity’s struggles and possibilities. One day, almost suddenly, I began to write them down.
At first, my words were clumsy, filled with mistakes. But I was stubborn. I refused to quit. I kept writing, again and again, until slowly, I discovered my own voice. Along the way, I immersed myself in the works of renowned authors, whose books became companions on my journey. I also stepped into the vast digital world—YouTube, online courses, and forums—absorbing knowledge that extended far beyond my degree.
CSS Dreams and a Harsh Realization
In those same years, I was preparing for the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam, widely known as one of Pakistan’s toughest written exams and a gateway to prestige and authority. For a time, I believed this was my path.
But the more I studied, the more I understood the political culture behind the exam. To me, it began to look like an instrument of a colonial mindset—a system that trained people to obey the master rather than to question him. In such a structure, one could not freely criticize the military, the civilian leadership, or the bureaucracy. One could only serve as their mouthpiece.
That realization shook me. I was not created to be silent. I was not born to carry someone else’s script. I was born to be a free-thinking Muslim, with the courage to speak what I believe is right, regardless of who sits in power.
And so, I walked away from the CSS dream—not in defeat, but in freedom.
My Online Journey
Leaving that path opened doors to something far more exciting: the online world. Step by step, I began building a career that combined my love for learning with practical skills.
- I started by offering writing services, crafting assessments for international university students.
- I then moved into WordPress development, and to date I have already created seven websites for clients around the world.
- I taught English writing and speaking classes, helping others find their voice.
- I also taught engineering software like AutoCAD, making use of my technical background.
- Alongside this, I even gained knowledge of cryptocurrency, expanding my understanding of modern finance and technology.
For a boy from a rural village where 95% of young people have little exposure to the digital world, this journey was nothing short of transformative.
A Dream for Humanity
Looking back, I see my journey not as a straight road, but as a river that found its way around stones, mountains, and barriers. What kept me going was not privilege, nor resources, but a restless desire to learn, to think, and to create.
My dream is not limited to myself. I want to offer something valuable and unique to humanity—not wealth, not power, but something greater: the purity of thought and the greatness of ideas.
And I must add: at this point in life, I do not think of myself as either a “successful” person or a “failed” one. What I feel, above all, is gratitude—gratitude for the journey I have taken, for the struggles that shaped me, and for the opportunities that continue to unfold before me.
I believe true service to humanity is not about obeying systems that silence us, but about thinking freely, speaking truthfully, and creating courageously. That is the path I have chosen.
And so, from the quiet fields of Haji Abad, Timergara, my story continues. A story born in a small rural village, nurtured during a global pandemic, and carried forward by the vastness of the internet. A story of a young man who dares to believe that thought itself can be a gift to the world.
